The Pretty Lights artist series bracelet will be available on Thursday January 7 at 10AM PST!
We are proud to announce that the first new artist to join our artist series bracelets in the New Year is Pretty Lights. Pretty Lights, the growingly popular project of Derek Vincent Smith who is based out of Colorado, produces music that would be a mix tape of styles he grew up listening to. The types of music range from '70s AM Gold-era soul to bass-heavy club beats to gangsta rap. What stands out about Smith is his live show that stays true to his name by providing an experience full of lights and lasers. Smith spent his high school years making hip hop but in the early 2000’s got big after releasing several hit albums.
Pretty Lights has played at some of the most prestigious festivals such as Coachella, Ultra, Movement, and Electric Zoo. For Smith’s recent albums he has worked with famous drummers, a choir, and several bands to create “vintage-sounding” music that is original and can be refashioned into his own style. These collaborations resulted in his Top Billboard 200 debut album called A Color Map of the Sun, his most recent and successful album to date. Don’t miss your chance to support Pretty Lights and the Upbeat Academy Foundation, a Louisiana non-profit organization formed in 2013 that provides underprivileged, at-risk children with an opportunity to learn how to produce and perform the type of music they listen to and dream of creating with a focus on electronic dance music and hip-hop.
