We got a chance to sit down with Villain to get some insights into his life and career. Read on!

What is the origin of the name 'Villain'?

I got my name from reading Marvel comic books back in the days.

What/who was your main inspiration when you were developing the project?

In the year 2000 I was still a raver myself I came across a live set from Lady Dana that blew my mind, from that day she was my true and only inspiration source.

Is there anything you do as part of your daily life or creative process that is unique to you or that others would be surprised to know?

Well beside making music, Im writing and producing festival shows as well, I have a few promoters I work with for all their festivals. So where it basically comes down to is that I produce and write all Dj intros and Festival endshows with all the fireworks on a lot of festivals here in Holland.

What is your favorite piece of music that you’ve written? What makes it standout compared to everything else you’ve produced?

My lasted track with Sound Rush - One, we created this track specially for the endshow of Defqon One 2018, so you start working with all elements that come together in a endshow, show-wise, firework-wise and people-wise. All this makes this track very special to me.

What genres, albums, songs, or artists do you enjoy listening to that your fans would be surprised to learn?

Im a big fan of Carmen McRae and Charles Aznavour, I love slow down jazzy stuff.

Why did you decide to collaborate with Electric Family?

I was following the guys for quite some times now, and I was a big fan behind the bracelets idea and the whole charity thing, so I decide to write them a message, and here we are now.

One last remark: Your set is over and you can flash one more message on the stage’s LED screens that everyone in the crowd will read. What does it say?

We are not related by blood, but the love for this music makes us all family.
