Artists Doing Good: David Starfire and SOOHAN Give Back To Austin Music Education with New Album

In 2016 we reported on a charity album by David Starfire titled Karuna. 100% of the proceeds went to Thai Freedom House, an organization that offers educational programs for Burmese refugees that includes language, art and more. The up and coming Los Angeles producer crowdfunded his album in order to travel to Northern Thailand camps and border zones where he met the refugees and worked with them to collaborate on a 10-track project that featured the beautiful acoustic sounds from indigenous musicians. The result was an eclectic amalgamation of psytrance, dubstep, glitchstep, and downtempo beats that goes deeper than the music itself.
Two years later, Starfire is back with the help of SOOHAN to debut another charity compilation, Circulate Vol. out now on Gravitas Recordings. It's a bass compilation that includes remixes, original tracks, and collaborations with artists such as CloZEE, Beats Antique, Desert Dwellers, and more. 100% of the net proceeds will be donated to Beyond the Grade, a grassroots 501(c)3 not-for-profit Austin-based charity that provides after school music education for underserved children.
Music education is a national crisis. With budget cuts, traditionally it is the arts that are cut first. It's undeniable the effect music has on not only the soul but in the cognitive development and self-esteem of our youth.

This compilation spotlights different sounds and features artists from around the United States, Finland, Ghana, Canada, Hungary, Angola, Poland, France, the UK, and more who contribute to creating cutting-edge music that is a fusion of traditional cultural music mixed with modern beats, bass, and rhythms. This global bass compilation was created with the understanding that people are interested in being educated about music from around the world and hearing sounds that are outside of the norm.
Do yourself and the community a favor and stream/donate to a great cause. It's rare that not only can you absorb amazing music but give back to something that can truly affect positive change in the world.
