RIP Avicii: the loss of a legend

Farewell to a legend

Avicii the musical genius has moved on and we hope he may rest in peace. Yes, this is true, Tim Bergling aka "Avicii" has passed away last night and was found dead in Oman. He has been such an inspiration to us all and for most, the reason they discovered electronic music. His most famous track, "Levels," will live on to be one of the most played songs for a long time to come.

We still recall the first time we heard this track in 2011 in January at Tiesto's club life residency at the Hard Rock hotel in Las Vegas. Tiesto said "this is a new track from my friend Avicii" and everyone knew the future superstar was destined for greatness with that track. There are so many amazing songs that he would release along the way in his short but successful career, we are listening to all of them here in the office today. We want to extend our heartfelt condolences to everybody who was touched in any by Avicii's music, shows, or wonderful personality. Lastly, we want to express our deepest gratitude to Avicii and his entire team for being a pioneer, and changing the way the world viewed dance music.

My first ever festival was TomorrowWorld, there I truly learned that this music, this energy, this feeling, is my true passion. Avicii Sadly could not make that festival and announced he has stopped touring around the same time. As my festival family was being created, we all had one main commonality…the love and lore of seeing Avicii one day. Sadly, that day will never come. BUT, what Tom did do unknowingly to him, was bring together a group of people from different nationalities, ages, races, and demographics to become close friends. That is what I think music is all about, and that is why I thank you Avicii.

Last week i started listening to Avicii again. His newer material was so good. I go through periods of listening to different genres with my mood, and listening to his art was truly memorizing. Then i hear the news of his sad passing :’( Difficult to hold back the tears listening to his amazing music. Gone but never forgotten! RIP legend!
